I mean, I could see why people wouldn't... from what I can tell, the woods are their own form of distraction anyway.

Well... it was straightforward compared to rumors coming true... that's about it, I think, though. I'm pretty sure the situation can never be too easy when it comes to things we have to resolve with Personas.
