You know that gems get our energy from light, don't you? So, in winter, most gems hibernate. Though, one of us stays up to do "winter duties"— that's my job.
[ They start with that, giving her a moment to digest that before they move on to the actual iceberg tidbit. ]
There are big masses of ice that hit each other and make a lot of noise... they'll wake up the gems during hibernation, so a gem in charge of winter duty needs to break them.
